A century or two hence Spiritualism may be a tradition and Socialism may be a tradition and Christian Science may be a tradition. But Catholicism will not be a tradition. It will still be a nuisance and a new and dangerous thing. -G.K. Chesterton
"I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilization, as the church has done so often in human history." -Cardinal Francis George

Chesterton on Abortion
"Let all the babies be born. Then let us drown those we do not like."

No one sums up and argues the case of abortion in so few words with clarity, wisdom and even a touch of humor as does this, man huge in mind, body and soul. In his day the argument that you might be able to terminate a life you cannot see, but not a baby lying before you. However, in our perilous time it is now possible to justify the latter and in some cases, as in NY state, perform the latter, allowing a baby of a botched abortion to die without the least bit of intervention. Oh that this prophet of common sense could make any sense of this!
